There are many types of punch presses, and their protective devices come in various forms. The protective devices of punch presses can mainly be divided into the following two types.
1. Control-type safety device:
A control-type safety device uses electrical interlocking to control the slide, so its application condition is that the punch press should be operated electrically. This type of device only plays a safety role in clutch presses with greater friction. It actually makes machine operation less safe on rigid clutch presses without inching devices. There are two main types of control-type safety devices:
1.1. Photoelectric safety device:
The advantages of photoelectric protective devices are that operators have no sense of constraint and the devices have long service life. Modulated infrared emitting diodes are generally used as light sources for photoelectric safety devices. The operating principle is to form one or more light grids using a transmitter and a receiver, isolating the operator from the danger zone. If the operator's body enters the danger zone, the light is blocked and an electrical signal is generated, causing the machine to stop the slide movement upon receiving the electrical signal.
1.2. Two-hand button safety device:
This type of device has a simple and reliable structure. The slide will only move when the operator simultaneously presses both buttons with both hands. If the operator releases either button halfway before the slide reaches the bottom dead center, the slide will immediately stop.
2. Mechanical protective devices:
Mechanical protective devices include push-handle, lever-arm, and pull-handle types, among others. Generally speaking, mechanical protective devices have simple structures and are easy to make, but they have different degrees of impact on operator manipulation.
